So who actually uses Twitter and why?

Two different reports/blog posts today on Twitter worth a quick look at. Twitter's own blog post (via David Brain) which shows that 60% of twitter traffic is non-US, and, perhaps more interestingly Thayer Driver's UK-based research. Both unrelated to, but hot on the heels of, Jeff Jarvis' column and post....

Nothing hugely unsurprising in the results (exec summary below), though I was most re-assured that more than 80% of twitterers have used it to ask people for advice. I'm sure that a few people at Twitter will be reading some of the "what I want it to do" comments with interest - several in there I'd like to see...

People mainly use Twitter mostly to see what their contacts are up to.

Most respondents to this survey are followed by twice the amount of people (101-200 followers) than they follow themselves (51-100 followers).

You’re most likely to become un-followed if your Tweets aren’t deemed relevant to your followers

Half the respondents (48.5%) had Twittered drunk…

… Yet thankfully most people (65.7%) have never regretted a Twitter post
